Tire changes

Post by Thor7000 » Fri May 13, 2005 10:34 pm

Could someone tell me how hard it is to change the slicks?? I have a new set which I would like to put on for the race at RA, but use my old tires for the practice sessions.

Can any of the track side tire guys change them for me using there machines ect??

If it cannot be done in the pits relatively easy I will have them installed prior to RA.

Changing tires

Post by Rick » Sat May 14, 2005 12:28 am

Not a big job, hardest part is breaking bead on old tire. I used three long tire irons at Mosport to mount a new rear. If, by chance, my trailer comes, I have a mounted tool to break and re-mount tires. The two wheel guys won't be able to do it.

So should I be O.K to change them at the track on Saturday, or should I just get them done now before the event??

I don't want to go the whole weekend on my existing tires, but I don't want to have any problems because I can't mount the new ones there :?

i've had to change tires at the track and it ain't fun.the bead is usually very difficult to break unless you have a set up hooked to something solid, like your trailer tongue.i'd advise doing it before you head to the track.

Hi ,
Most of the teams run Hoosier's or Yokohama, I can get Avon's from the suplier in the U.K. But the exchange rate plus shipping makes them exspensive.
Look forward to meeting you all .Thanks Mike.
