1100cc in an F1?

Post by Miles » Tue Jun 26, 2012 2:32 pm

Is an 1100cc ok in an F1?

Here is why i ask.
In the rule book under "F1 specifications" it currently says

"Chapter 1 – ENGINE (F1)
1) Displacement limit of 1200cc – Four stroke, or 900cc – Two stroke. Regardless of
cooling system"

But later says ......

"12) The current allowance for 1200cc four-stroke and 900cc two-stroke limits was provided
for a two year period only, from November 2004 to November 2006, and is to expire at
the 2006 Annual General Meeting. Note: this rule will be enforced effective 2012 racing
season." ......but doesn't go on to say what t "is now". (ie....nowhere does it say it is 1000cc max, but in #12 it says it is no longer 1200cc max) all very confusing.

Was the discussion about all the changes that we had earlier in the season about the F2 rules?

I have a wrecked bike with a good BMW 1100 engine. Would be great if i can do something with it and have one more rig available to be out there.

Thoughts/ideas?

Thanks

Miles.

Hi Miles,

I think some of the rules got filed under the wrong sections. Currently the SRA East limit for F1 is 1200cc – Four stroke, or 900cc – Two stroke. Regardless of cooling system, 750cc - turbo charged four stroke.

Rule 12 should be under the F2 section. There is some lobbying going on within the club to allow air-cooled four strokes up to 1200cc to be grandfathered into our F2 rules. That will have to be addressed at the next AGM.

Hope that helps. See you at Shannonville.

Chris

PS my F1 is for sale if you part out that BMW on Ebay and sell a couple of other bikes you could probably afford it ;-)

Thanks Chris,
what i want to do is have something to occupy my time and create something from scratch.
It will (hopefully) keep me out of trouble over the down times.

I wrecked the Boxer at the National round last weekend at Shannonville, broke my left hand , and made it a very expensive weekend.

And.....SELL BIKES !!!!!! are you MAD , man?? nevvvveeeer!

I'd be happy with 750cc
