Race Results - Summit Point, WV June 29 & 30

Post by fabio » Mon Jul 01, 2013 11:26 pm

Since Bobby is out of the country and extremely pre-occupied she asked me to post the official results of our recent racing weekend at Summit Point. My apologies now if I goof up.

The SRA was in Summit Point, WV this past weekend for their 3 round of the 2013 season. Mother nature was on our side as rains held off and both Saturday and Sunday races were completed with sunny skies (all though a tad bit hot).

Big thanks goes out to Mike Vinten for leaving his passenger helmet at home and wearing a driver's helmet. Also thanks to Nick Bailey for making the long drive to passenger for Mike. This allowed us to get another rig on the grid which is always awesome.

Now for the results.....

Saturday, June 29

1ST - #580 Steve Fletcher/Fabio Petruccelli
2ND - #1 Chris Wells/Jeff Gillard
3RD - #351 Pete Essaff/Adi Greenlaw
4TH - #21 Bill Douglas/Andrea Purdy
5TH - #375 Ken Kyler/Patrick Whitehead
6TH - #69 Mike Vinten/Nick Bailey
7TH - #14 Russ Miller/Marc Matthys

Sunday, June 30

1ST - #580 Steve Fletcher/Fabio Petruccelli
2ND - #1 Chris Wells/Jeff Gillard
3RD - #21 Bill Douglas/Andrea Purdy
4TH - #14 Russ Miller/Marc Matthys
5TH - #69 Mike Vinten/Nick Bailey
6TH - #351 Pete Essaf/Adi Greenlaw
7TH - #375 Ken Kyler/Patrick Whitehead
8TH - (DNF) #? Bambi

(Bambi started on lap #1 but after almost getting hit by #580 and then #1 decided not to continue racing)

Sunday's race was extremely close as we beat Chris and Jeff by only 0.021 seconds. Thankfully the carbonation in the lucozade gave me the ability to blow a fart at that crucial moment to give us that extra push over the line first!!!!!

All in all an awesome race weekend. Hope it repeats on July 20th & 21st when the SRA will be at NJMP.

Photos are at http://www.myndseye.com/ access code: moto

However no photos have been uploaded.

I understand that one duty for the president is to purchase all the rookies of the club photos from their events as a welcome to the SRA. Very generous of you Bill :D

Sure thing buddy. I have some very tasteful photos of myself at various events like our family's thanksgiving and Christmas. There might be some sledding and ice skating ones too. :D

Thanks for the photos Bill. I still find it hard to believe that I was racing an F1 sidecar!! Thanks to Steve and Bobby for letting me take their sidecar on the track and to Nick for trusting me. The trust between driver and passenger is two ways and Nick earned my trust quickly. I was tentative on Saturday as it was my first time driving any sidecar on the track. The times started to come down on Sunday and I was pleased with a best lap of 1:46. Summit Point is a great track. I hope that we can have sidecar rides at NJMP as it is a good way to show racers and fans the attraction of sidecars. Imagine a grid of 20 sidecars.
