Increasing Numbers

Post by swede » Sun Aug 03, 2008 12:40 pm

George, I have not been around very long, but one thing is apparent. Your work in the club is appreciated by all. Keep up the good work!

I know this is a bit off the wall, but it is a start to your request. The parade laps seem to attract a lot of racers looking for a thrill. This is a good start.

Not sure how this could be approached, but if we had a bike available (one the club puchased) (don't take this wrong, a bike which is not new but is safe) it could be used by some of the pro racers interested in driving a sidecar.
Whether or not if this would expand into the interest required to purchase the sidcar has yet to be seen.

I realize there are a lot of questions (legalities, maintenance, monies, storage, etc), but thought I would throw it out there to be amused by or purhaps added to. It is posible, this bike could also be used in the future (if licenses permit) to be rented for some race events by an interested party and passanger.

Again you have to start somewhere, just putting out an idea that can be expanded upon.

Have sidecars for sale at the track, + what swede said is 100% spot on, more people get into this sport through rides than anything else.

Cheers :-)

How about this......... MAKE ALL POINTS COUNT!!

As everyone knows, Sidecar racing is all about points and winning championships. So, why not make ALL points count. That way, it will make more people attend more races, and thus keep the numbers up too.

(This thing about dropping points is out dated.)

I agree. Let's get rid of it at the AGM.
While I'm at it, if there are any rule change proposals - technical ones - they can be sent to me, so we can discuss them prior the the AGM.
Make sure yr outfits are perfect :D for West Virginia. If you can't, then bring beer. And not the cheap stuff.
See ya then.

I thought sidecar racing was for fun and passion for a different kind of motor sport? Some teams will never win be it for safety reasons, skill or equipment. It has always been a team and family sport with a tight knit club community.

Not all about winning.

This is Michelle (visiting my parents in Maxville)

I also agree with Bobby; You make the effort to go to a race, (spending time, money, whatever) you should be able to keep those points you earn, and not have to throw anything away to make things 'fair' to those who either can't make a race in the season, or DNF. Sorry if you DNF, or can't make races for different reasons...racing's a black and white sport to me. Whoever has the most points at the end of a season, wins....not sure why it has to be more complicated then that..??!

It may not be all about winning for some, but no matter how long it takes to get me there (2,3,6,20 years) the goal of racing for me personally is to win...otherwise, why bother racing? Racing is, by definition, about who gets there first, isn't it? Or we could just change it to the STA (Sidecar Touring Association) :? , if that is truly the case for the majority of the club?

I'm having a great time racing right now, and I feel the club's in a great place at the moment. Everyone's got their opinion, and I respect that. Don't come down on me too heavy, it's just my own response to the current discussion. It hasn't changed since last year, so it's no secret!

Fire away!

Whey Heay Finally some action on the forum !

Post by cor-blimey » Sat Aug 09, 2008 4:18 pm

Gotta say I'm with the majority of the folks here ......

If you cannot make it to a race or have a bad weekend then in the words of my old Monty Python friends ...

It's tough titty for you fishface - no points.

Dropping of races shouldn't artificially alter the outcome of a racing season.

And of course I like the socialising that we do at the track and enjoy Mark drinking all of my beer but when we get on the racetrack then you're all a bunch of wankers

Still looking forward to seeing y'all at Summit Point !

You have my vote. If a team is willing to go for the points, it should include all of the series. Those who put the time, effort and money to make all races should not be peanalized in the end.

Having a great time with the people who make it happen!

Actually, Stephen has a couple of brilliant ideas to bring to the table at the AGM. for the F1 & F2, and i'm sure you're all gonna like it. It would be a good incentive to get rigs out there to race too!!.

Also, just heard through the grapevine, that the Baker may be fixed up in time to bring to the last race with A FOR SALE SIGN on it :( :( :( :( :(
bwaw, bwaw, bwaw.................................................

Bang goes my hope of racing

So, just bring along your family, your grandparents, your neighbours and their families and all of their dogs, budgies, hamsters, rabbits, cats & kids, and their kids friends, and their pets, and let's forget about WINNING and just have a Fkn good weekend. Infact, leave the Sidecar at home
